Attending Local Glass Association Meetings is Worth Your Time

By Paul Daniels

Last week, I attended the July meeting of the new California Glass Association (CGA). It was well attended and definitely time well spent.

CGA started the meeting by discussing future goals for the group and committees looking for volunteers. It had a great guest speaker, Max Perilstein, who reviewed industry and economic trends. There was a good mix of glass company owners, industry vendors and employees, making for good networking opportunities. Hale Glass Inc. hosted the meeting. Thank you, Brian and Gloria Hale, for making this night a success.

On CGA’s website, it clearly states the goal of the organization:

“The California Glass Association exists to support and enhance the local glazing contractor community. Our mission is to provide training, education, resources, support, and networking opportunities for all glazing contractors, their vendors, and industry professionals.”

This meeting met all its goals. Over the last 40 years, I have worked and attended local glass association meetings across the country and still feel the enthusiasm, energy and sense of comradery that these events bring.

These meetings are not only a place to network but add a real sense of community to our industry. We are lucky to be part of an industry where the people involved want to work together to make it better for the next generation. In my last blog, I wrote about being a good corporate citizen in the glass industry; attending and supporting these local groups makes us all better.

If you want to help the glass industry stay strong and keep up to date with what’s new and trending, I recommend you support your local organizations. They are a great asset to our industry
