For example, Frameless Hardware Company (FHC) recently moved into its new campus, bringing several divisions and parts of the company together under one roof. Even though most of the employees have been with the company for years, many of us did not know everyone by name. You may have known what area they worked in, but little else about their day-to-day activities.

Last week, FHC handed out lanyards and name tags for all employees. I was surprised how many have approached me over the last week to say, “Thank you.” They were happy to be recognized and felt confident that they used the correct name when addressing others. Newer employees, especially those of us who often have senior moments these days, like to be able to read the badge.

In my old life, we always used name tags with the company logo, employees’ names and positions. We even gave out pins they could attach to their badges, recognizing how long they had been with the company and emphasizing longevity.
