A member of the glass community for 36 years; starting with 9 years representing CR Laurence in the Northeast, I joined Floral Glass and Mirror, Hauppauge, NY, in 1985 as VP and General Manager.
Floral grew to 3 locations and became a leader in insulating glass, tempering, lami and custom manufactured architectural glass. Floral Glass became a member of the Oldcastle Glass Family in 2004.
Retiring in 2005, Elaine, my wife, and I moved from Long Island to Southwest New Hampshire to live near family.
Both of our children are teachers in Washington DC. Presently, I am writing for USGlass Magazine, and consulting in the glass fabricating industry.
Paul Daniels is a native of the Boston area. His father was a manufacturers rep and he grew up working for his grandfather who had a small carpentry business. This gave him a strong background in sales and construction.
Daniels graduated from Suffolk University with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and worked full time for his grandfather after graduation. He first met Paul Bieber when he was hired as an outside sales rep for C.R. Laurence (CRL) in 1980, filling the original Boston-based territory Paul Bieber had started with for CRL before becoming its Northeast regional sales manager.
After three years of covering Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont as an outside sales rep, Daniels became the Midwest regional sales manager for CRL, based in the Chicago area. This gave him a view of the glass industry from Ohio to the Dakotas. When Paul Bieber left CRL, Daniels took his position as Northeast regional sales manager, based in New Jersey, and Paul Bieber became one of his customers.
CRL promoted Daniels to vice president of sales and he relocated to Los Angeles, joining their executive committee in 1987. He has been a guest speaker at many trade show and industry events, and served on many glass association committees, including the GANA Tempered Glass group, which updated their Heavy Glass Door Manual, and has been an active CSI member over the years.
In 2019 Daniels retired as senior vice president of sales from CRL after 39 years. His wife, Eileen, of 37 years and two children, thank Don Friese, the CRL team and the glass industry for all their support.
