GlassBuild is Over. Now What?

By Paul Daniels

Remember, GlassBuild only lasted three days; what will make it a success is the follow-up over the next year.

As many have reported, GlassBuild 2024 was well-attended by exhibitors and guests. It is always nice to meet old friends as well as new ones.

The attendance from Texas customers was strong, and people were happy that the show would visit new markets over the next few years, with Orlando on the calendar for 2025. The local Dallas customers liked the show because they could bring some employees who don’t get to do this often. It also seemed that many more international companies exhibited than in past years.

There was a lot of machinery on the floor and many new companies exhibiting. The seminars were full, and I received many comments about the educational programs. Education was a strong theme again this year.

Now that the show is over, it’s time to return to work. As an exhibitor, you must follow up on the leads you receive. A good strategy is to email your visitors. Thank them for stopping by and remind them of the benefits of working with you in the future.

If you generated quotes, follow up. Don’t just send a copy. This is your opportunity to get some information about how serious they are about the purchase, their timeline and when you should schedule a follow-up. The best time to ask these questions is before sending out the quote, not several weeks later as a follow-up.

Too often, companies don’t follow up on their show leads in person or by phone. Show attendees spend time and money visiting your booth, so you should treat them respectfully.

If you went to the show and made a large purchase or brought in a new product line to offer your customers, you should tell them. Design a marketing flyer to let them know you invested in new machinery, software or equipment to better service them or make you more competitive.

If you find new suppliers or offer new services, don’t keep them a secret; let your customers know. If you add new finishes or products in your showrooms, put a “NEW” sign on them to bring customers’ attention to the new trends in the market. These are all good ways to let your customers know you are always looking to improve your business and stay on top of new trends.

Even informing your customers that you attended the show will help grow your business. Post a picture of you or your crew at the show on social media

Share your show experience with your employees. Tell them what new trends you saw and what people discussed. They will pass this info on to your customers. Remember, the show only lasted three days; the follow-up over the next year is what will make it a success.
