Successful Companies Never Stop Innovating

Over the past years, I have discussed innovation many times. Adapting and innovating have been key strategies for surviving the pandemic. It’s even more important now to continue innovating and adapting to our changing economy. Nobody seems to agree on what the future will bring, but companies that can stay agile will most likely succeed and grow no matter what happens to the economy.

I happened upon an article that details how successful companies adapt during economic downturns.

“Existing businesses can thrive in an economic downturn when they find their relevant proposition with their current and new customers,” the author writes. “Numerous new businesses are typically created during a recession. Why? because they are not encumbered with the past or handcuffed by tribal knowledge. Successful companies are innovative and are quick to adapt to the changes in the economy and provide something of value. Those companies that can be agile in their actions and relevant to customers’ needs will likely have the best business performance in a downturn.”

We returned to Los Angeles just in time for five consecutive days of temperatures over 110 degrees Fahrenheit; summer is fading away, and hopefully, so will the heat.

The author’s point is that this is not a time to cut back. If your customers trust your products and services, they will be open to your suggestions and innovations to help keep their businesses strong. You also want to depend on flexible suppliers who can help support your business. Most customers I talk with stay busy, and construction reports remain strong. A culture of innovation in your business will serve you well regardless of the future.

PS: I wanted to make a comment on what a great summer this has been for our family. My daughter, Erin, and her husband had our first grandchild, Millie, a healthy baby girl in July. We have been to visit her in North Carolina twice already. Our son, Michael, just purchased his first home. Not an easy feat here in Southern California.
